Nature Crowns

One of my favourite Autumn outdoor activities is to create Nature Crowns.  Using bristol board and some double-sided carpet tape, we can create an easy crown that is a perfect canvas for design using natural items.  Although these crowns can be made any time of the year, I prefer the fall.  The ground is a mosaic of 'dead things' - free for the taking.  We can also use wildflowers that have died off.  I limit the children to things that have died rather than picking anything alive.  We want to instill in our little stewards the importance of caring for all things living.  By taking only dead/dying items we can honour the living items and their importance in our ecosystem. Its was a very blustery day which complicated our mission a little, but still, we had a lot of fun and there were some very creative designers out there today.
