Gnorm is Found!

This morning Mrs. Snow brought in a note from Gnorm.  It was quite the conversation starter!

After the initial shock we got to work trying to figure out just where he was.  Some friends believed he was in a hole, others thought he was in a tree stump.  That got many to think he was back in the tree stump we found him in, others thought it was a different stump.

Then we started thinking about just how we would rescue him.  It was hard to answer that question considering we didn't know exactly where Gnorm was.  So, this afternoon during Explovery, we decided to start the search.  Armed with our sticks, the picture as a clue, a step ladder and lots of energy, we headed to the forest.

First we searched the stump in which we first found our forest friend.  Sadly it was empty.  We then went from stump to stump looking for Gnorm.  Some stumps we discovered were not hollow, others were simply too short to hold Gnorm and others were partially hollowed and others still were hollow logs laying on the ground which didn't seem to match what the picture was telling us.  It was then that one of our SK girls started talking about the decomposing log we poked at last week and reminded us that there was a pretty big tree stump there.  After asking if they could re-locate that log and pointing us in the right direction we were off.

We found the stump.  Gave a knock.  Put our ears to the log listening for Gnorm and .....

...nothing.  No sound, no movement.

That didn't stop us - maybe he was sleeping.
It was then suggested we look inside.
(Good thing we brought a stepladder!)

Guess who was way, way, down there....

....Gnorm!  We found him!

We were all thrilled that he was okay but are wondering if he is hungry, scared, cold, etc..  Now we need to figure out just how to get him out of there.  We left him there, reassured that we would be back with a plan for his rescue.  We talked on the way back about the kind of tools we might need.  The goal was to 'sleep on it' and we'd talk more about it tomorrow.  Maybe Gnorm needs a care package?
