Another Unusual (but totally awesome) Discovery

On Wednesday during morning recess, one of our SK friends made an exciting discovery in our very own backyard.  First she brought in the wing.  Then a few minutes later this is what we had....

Awesome!  She was so excited about her discovery and so were we.  The children were fascinated about it. The questions and language that were coming out of them was great!  We talked about skeletons, feathers, we made connections to our bodies and wondered about just what kind of animal had this bird for dinner or breakfast.  We wondered about what kind of bird it was and what it was doing when it died.  We also talked about the need for some animals to hunt other animals in order to survive - there is no drive-through for animals!  Ask your little scientist about our conversation, what kind of bird it is and how we think it died.

I was then asked by our SK discoverer if she could 'take it home to my mom'. Then a host of other friends asked if they could take it home too!  I'm fairly certainly not all moms would be as excited about this 'present' as I was - so - we opted to take a picture and post it on the blog instead.  (You're welcome.)  :)
