100's Day
Hello Everyone,
Today we celebrated being at school for 100 days. Throughout the day we did a variety of activities that had to do with the number 100. For music they sang 100 day songs and during exploration they explored many centers that were all based around the number 100.

Our students at big blocks were being Super Hero's and saving the world!
Our students are working on their writing and reading. They are learning about animals and what they do in the winter. We have spent some time learning about hibernation and migration.
This is one of our favourite activities (Goop). It is both a solid and a liquid.
Students are hard at work making Valentine's Cards!
This center students are learning about gears and motion. They are working together to build a working machine.
Valentines Bags for Friday's card exchange.
Students are working on their fine motor skills by cutting and pasting their favourite pictures.

Today in Class
Today in class we started new centers. The students enjoyed building with the big blocks, playing with goop, making valentine's cards and playing with our gear toy.
Students playing at the big blocks use their imagination, oral language and cooperation and create new and exciting things. Today they were making a flying ship where they rescued anyone who fell off.
Students are getting ready for Valentine's day and creating a craft that works on their fine motor skill.
The Goop station was a science experiment where the students got to explore a substance that could be both a solid and a liquid. You can try it at home with 2 parts cornstarch and 1 part water.

At the gear center students explore how moving one object can effect and move all the other gears. Our students worked hard to create a large moving piece.
Fun in the Snow!
Today we got to enjoy some time outside in the snow. The sun was shining and the temperature was great. The students were hard at work creating snowmen, snow hills, and forts. It was really wonderful to get outside after days of cold weather and being stuck inside!

Valentines' Day
Hello Everyone,
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching I wanted to let
you know some information in case you are interested in participating. If you
are making or buying cards there are 24 students in the class including your
son/daughter. We are asking that on the Valentine’s cards just have your
son/daughter fill in their name and leave the recipient part blank. This will
make it easier for the students to deliver the cards. We will be delivering the Valentines' cards
on Friday February 13th into special bags made by each student.
Busy Times with the MacWandsons'
Hi Everyone,
The MacWandsons’ have been busy. Lately we have been
exploring different types of art. We started with self-portraits and learnt all
about the face. We used mirrors to help us find just the right spots to put our
eyes, nose and mouth along with choosing the right colour for the painting. Students used a variety of brushes. The large
brush was used for the big shape of the face while the smaller brushes were
used for details. We think they look fabulous!
The next art exploration we embarked on was sculptures. Students were given the task to create a
sculpture out of rocks, Plasticine, buttons, and pipe cleaners. Our students
have been very creative, they have made cars, animals, snowman, and even a cup of hot
chocolate was designed.
We also had another visit from baby Maya. Students had the
chance to see how she is developing. They were thrilled to find out that she
now looks when her name is called. We also had the chance to talk about the 5
senses. Students were able to tell us what they were and why they are
important. They found out that baby’s put a lot of things in their mouth in
order to discover the world around them. The student’s found it funny to think
that they used to do this too.
